Design creativity and affordability is what makes The Element in Mission Hills a hidden gem. This 21 unit multifamily project with 2 affordable units is uniquely designed around an existing midcentury modern that has been brought back to life. The site is adjacent to the Maple Canyon walking trail that connects Mission Hills to Balboa Park. Multiple units have incredible views into Maple Canyon, which is filled with giant eucalyptus trees and native plants that takes you out of the city and brings you back to serenity. The use of natural wood siding and throughout this project blends itself into neighboring environment. An affordable density bonus along with deviations from municipal code were utilized in order to bring this project to life. The Element is also less than a half mile from the hustle and bustle of downtown San Diego and is a short walk to Little Italy.
