The Chammas

The Chammas is located in the Point Loma Neighborhood of San Diego with sweeping views of Downtown and the Coronado Bridge. One of the select client projects we decide to take one each year, the contemporary design emerges with cast concrete construction to take advantage of the zoning constraints and industrial aesthetic.Utilizing the floor area ration bonus allowed by building underground, mixed with our client’s desire to have hidden space, we were able to develop a three level home with fully underground living, walk out basement, main floor living area and a master upper level.

Hidden by bookcase access doors, you will find a fully underground 800 sf living area, with full kitchen, bath and storage area. The walk out basement level contains a four car garage, wine tasting area, conditioned wine room, wet bar / kitchenette and media room along with storage and utility space. At the main entry level, as you pass through the stylized pivot door, to the left is a raised study, to the right a guest bedroom then glass elevator and that accesses all portions of the home, including the formal living area, kitchen, dining and eventually to the rear patio with pool, jacuzzi and outdoor kitchen and dining. The upper floor contains the full master suite, bathroom, closet and indoor/outdoor spa along with multi-level patios. The home is also completely self-sufficient from top to bottom for its power needs for weeks at a time with the addition of back up water supply, full solar array and an army of battery storage systems, fully automated from speakers to computer security and electronically shaded windows.
